🌋 Everything you need to know about Volcano Token

General Information

What is Volcano Token?

Volcano Token (VLN) is a utility token created on the Avalanche network, designed to drive social, technological, and educational innovation. Born in Costa Rica with the purpose of fostering the development of projects with real impact through digital tools, programming hackathons, and Web3 education.

Why is it called Volcano Token?

The token is inspired by the majestic Arenal Volcano of Costa Rica, a natural wonder that represents energy, constant transformation, and resilient life. Just as a volcano can generate fertile landscapes and new life, we believe that well-directed technology can be a regenerative force for communities.

Is Volcano Token a cryptocurrency?

Volcano Token (VLN) is a utility token, not a financial asset. It is designed to have practical use within the Volcano ecosystem, facilitating participation in hackathons, access to training, and support for impact projects. It does not promise financial returns and is not designed as an investment instrument.

Technology

Which blockchain does Volcano Token operate on?

VLN operates on the Avalanche C-Chain, a high-performance blockchain compatible with the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM). This choice allows benefiting from scalability, near-instant transactions, and significantly low gas fees, making it an efficient and eco-friendly option.

Which wallets can I use to store VLN?

You can use any wallet compatible with the Avalanche C-Chain network. The most recommended ones are:

  • MetaMask (configured for Avalanche network)
  • Core Wallet (Avalanche's native solution)
  • Any other EVM-compatible wallet that supports Avalanche

How do I set up my wallet for Volcano Token?

To set up your wallet and add Volcano Token, follow these steps:

  1. Configure your wallet for the Avalanche C-Chain network
  2. Add a custom token using the VLN contract address
  3. Use the following details:
    • Name: Volcano Token
    • Symbol: VLN
    • Decimals: 18

We will soon publish a detailed guide with images to facilitate this process.

Hackathons and Events

What are the Arenal Volcano Hackathons?

The Arenal Volcano Hackathons are intensive programming events where developers, designers, and entrepreneurs come together to create technological solutions with social and environmental impact. They are 100% focused on programming and address social, environmental, or educational themes, with prizes and recognition managed through VLN.

How can I participate in a hackathon?

To participate in our hackathons:

  1. Follow our social networks to stay updated on upcoming events
  2. Register through the form we will publish before each event
  3. Form a team or join an existing one during the event
  4. Develop your solution during the established time and present your project!

No previous blockchain experience is required to participate, just a desire to learn and create.

What types of projects are developed in the hackathons?

In our hackathons, projects are developed focusing on:

  • Technology-based educational solutions
  • Applications for environmental monitoring and protection
  • Tools for vulnerable communities
  • Platforms that promote transparency and citizen participation
  • Web3-based educational games

All projects must have a technological component and seek to generate a positive impact.

Tokenomics and Distribution

What is the total supply of Volcano Token?

The total supply of Volcano Token is 1,000,000,000 VLN (one billion tokens). This amount is fixed and no more tokens will be created in the future.

How is the token distributed?

The distribution of Volcano Token is designed to ensure a healthy and sustainable ecosystem:

  • 35% (350 million): Awards and activities
  • 19.9% (199 million): Community fund
  • 15% (150 million): Founding team
  • 15% (150 million): Ecosystem and alliances
  • 10% (100 million): Public presale
  • 5% (50 million): Exchange liquidity
  • 0.1% (1 million): Airdrop

1 million VLN tokens will be distributed in an airdrop, with a limit of 10 VLN per wallet. The airdrop is capped at 100,000 unique wallets and includes protection against bots and smart contracts.
